The conference will be held across three days and has been designed to provide delegates with a dynamic, interactive and stimulating experience with many opportunities for seeing EMS in practice and discussing innovative approaches.

The two main conference days will feature the following plenary and concurrent sessions with an emphasis on panels representing industry, government, agriculture and regulators to ensure a wide range of viewpoints are presented.

Monday 14 September 2009

A full day workshop for EMS novices and those wanting to brush up on their knowledge and use of an EMS. The workshop will be conducted by Genevieve Carruthers, Environmental Systems Specialist NSW DPI and Mick Dawes, Manager, Environmental Management Unit, Medicare on behalf of the EMS Association.

Tuesday 15 September 2009

The first day of the conference will feature the following sessions.

  • EMS in the international arena, the need for standards, recognition & implementation
  • EMS in the Australian context, building better business in the international arena
  • Relevance of EMS to industries and agencies.
  • Is it just about the carbon?
  • Integration of management systems.

The day will conclude with a poster session and informal BBQ in the grounds of the venue.

The second day of the conference will feature the following sessions.

  • Using national certification and auditing processes to build recognition for EMS users.
  • Recognition and reward for EMS users.
  • Sharing the responsibility for environmental management.
  • Valuing the outcomes of EMS.

The conference will conclude with a gala dinner, at which a highlight will be the presentation of the 2009 EMSA/CGU Awards in agricultural, government and small business categories and the announcement of a new BestFarms partnership program.
